Day 2

Trek to Rolla campsite

After breakfast, you will leave for the trek. The jeep reaches till Ropa village. After meeting your trek staff, you follow the path giving way to the remote villages of the ecozone.

After around 2 hours of trail hike you reach Mobile point, where you may consider having your lunch overlooking snowy peaks. From here, Park gate is only an hour away. As you cross the park gate you are in the realm of Nature.

On your way to Rolla, you will only come across one old wood house where lives the last inhabitant of the Park, Nanni, an old lady who refused to leave the place. Ahead of Nanni’s house the path gets narrower and forest will become denser. You can enjoy the diversity of plants and tree species. After hiking for half-an hour from the park gate you will reach the Rolla huts and campsite.

Once the tents are pitched you will receive your evening tea & snacks, and enjoy the riverside location of the camp. During the evening time, at the river bank you may encounter wildlife coming to drink water from the river. It is common to see Goral (A Himalayan sheep), monkeys and langurs, but even leopards have been spotted ! Overnight will be spent under the tents.

This Women trek was a great experience for everyone. The trek is relatively easy, and the scenery in the Tirthan valley is absolutely magical. Going along the Tirthan river, we arrived at our camp by the end of the afternoon. Our women guides set up the entire camp and cooked for us. The best food I’ve ever had in India! They always made sure we had everything we needed, and I felt like a guest staying at their home. We also had a lot of time to share with them and we were able to talk about lots of things. This experience wasn’t just a trek in the Great Himalayan National Park, but an unforgettable human adventure. I’d recommend it to any woman willing to discover the Great Himalayan National Park in a safe and comfortable way !
