Day 1 : Leh to Kanji (Drive)

Your adventure begins with a scenic drive from Leh to Kanji, a remote village in the western corner of ladakh. The drive is a wonderful opportunity to visit some of the most stunning monasteries of Ladakh : Likir, Alchi and Lamayuru monasteries. The route passes through the Indus Valley and Fotu La pass, located just after Lamayuru, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding Himalayan landscape and the famous moonland. Kanji, nestled in a deep gorge, is the last settlement before entering the wild expanse of Zanskar. Here, you’ll meet your trekking crew and spend the night in a homestay, preparing for the exciting days ahead. |
Day 2 : Kanji to Kanji La Base Camp

The trek starts with a gradual ascent through the Kanji Valley, following a winding river surrounded by dramatic rock formations. Day 3 : Kanji La Base Camp to Junction of Kanji & Pidmo Valley

Today’s trek is a challenging yet rewarding ascent over Kanji La, the highest pass on the route. The steep climb to the pass is met with incredible 360° views of the southern Zanskar ranges with the spectacular Kun (7135 m) and Nun (7077 m), higher peaks of Ladakh. After celebrating the summit victory, you’ll descend into a barren valley where the Kanji and Pidmo rivers merge, creating a surreal, untouched landscape. Crossing Pigzdon La is one of the most thrilling highlights of this trek. The ascent is demanding, but reaching the summit unveils a breathtaking panorama of an unspoiled part of the Zanskar range. Le steep descent leads into the vast Dibling Valley, where you’ll get your first glimpse of Dibling – one of Zanskar’s most remote villages. Home to only a handful of families, Dibling offers an authentic insight into traditional Zanskari life, untouched by modernity. Day 6 : Dibling to Base of Barmi La

This part of Zanskar is so remote that even trekkers rarely visit. After crossing a couple of valleys connecting to the main Dibling valley, you turn left on the route that gradually ascends towards the base of Barmi La, another high pass connecting Dibling to Lingshed. Le final challenge of the trek is crossing Barmi La, a high-altitude pass with another breathtaking views of the Zanskar Himalayas. Le long descent towards Lingshed is mesmerizing, with green meadows gradually appearing amidst the barren mountains. Upon reaching Lingshed, one of Zanskar’s most historic and picturesque villages, you’ll visit the Lingshed Gompa, a renowned Gelugpa monastery housing monks who live here year-round. Despite its extreme remoteness, Lingshed has been inhabited for nearly a millennium, making it a truly special place to end the trek.
